It has absolutely no interaction with Pokemon Go other than providing a button to launch Pokemon Go or switch to it if it is already running and completely relies on the player interacting with the app for it's operation.
It doesn't screen read or screen shot Pokemon Go nor require login credentials.

Based on how the game reacts to your throw you press either the C (Catch) Button or the NC (No Catch) button.
The reset button can reset a session in the event of bad input or just moving onto the next encounter. When it is an exit button it will close the overlay.
The stop watch timers give you visibility of how long you've waited since your last throw.
The Throw Status indicator lets you know how safe it is to throw
